Carteret County Speedway Brought the Heat on Saturday, April 20, 2024 with the Spring Showdown presented by John the Greek Restaurant Equipment & Bogue Sound Distillery

PELETIER, NC - Saturday’s Spring Showdown presented by John the Greek Restaurant Equipment & Bogue Sound Distillery at Carteret Speedway saw warm temperatures and great racing. Mr. William Stancill fired up the crowd with a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem. Our fans enjoyed mingling on the track and meeting the drivers during our Driver Meet & Greet! Once all of the pre-race festivities were over, it was time to go racing!

The first event was the Bandolero/Junior Mini Cup race. Rylan Speight (45) was the Bandolero winner while pole sitter Keagan Abrams (6) took his first win over Dee Dee White (22). Dee Dee was celebrating her 15th birthday and was serenaded with Happy Birthday from the pits & the stands after the race. Anthony Ventresca (10) did not start the race.

Next up was the U-Car division which was one of the most exciting races of the night. Haiden Thomas (22) won the race; Haley Brown (5) was second and Joe Wade (43) was third. There were numerous lead changes and a late caution set up a 3-lap dash to the finish. Also racing in the UCAR Division were Abby Jolly (11), Dustin Jolly (21), Summer Sullivan (58) & Logan McCallister (19).

The Bombers raced next with a very competitive field of 13 cars! Charlie Mercer (01) emerged victorious over Eddie Humphrey (14) and Brady Price (5B). Rounding out the rest of the field were Steve Sullivan (58), Hunter Brown (11), Justin Rountree (87), Deanna Stancill (9), TJ Medeiros (91), Nathan Hall (33), Marion "Papa Smurf" Williams (77), Edward Piercey (67), Johnathan Thompson (07) & Richard Smith (77S).

There was a short break in the action and then it was time for the Legends to hit the track!

Charlie Beals (5B) had a triumphant return to the speedway with a first-place finish. Scotty Benford (51) was second and Jacob Line (74) was third in his first ever race at Carteret. Finishing out the field were Austin Eckert (6), Carsyn Gillikin (99) & Oliver Missner (28).

The final race of the evening was a 50 lap Charger event. This was another great race as

Michael O’Brien (21B), David Barnes (21) and Gator Williams (71) battled for the top spot. O’Brien was the winner over Barnes.

The next race will be Saturday, May 11th, with a 7pm start. Carteret Speedway presents Ladies Night at the Races presented by Bradley’s Jewelers featuring a special "Mom's Race for the Roses" featuring four mom's chosen at random to race! Also on our race line-up will be the Chargers, Street Stocks, Legends, UCAR, Bombers & Jr Mini Cups! Start the afternoon off with a Vendor Fair at the track from 1pm to 6pm prior to the race.
