Weekly division drivers will have more to race for this season at Carteret County Speedway. Officials at America's Nicest Short Track are excited to announce that a new championship purse and format will be implemented for the 2022 season.
Starting April 2nd, our weekly divisions will begin earning points and racing for the championship trophy and prize money. Consistency will be key this year and with the added purse the racing should be more exciting than ever because every position will count.

"We are so thrilled to reward our local drivers who are the backbone of Carteret County Speedway," said track owner, Bob Lowery. "I know for sure this is going to push these drivers a little harder because now they've got a little something extra to race for."
In addition to the championship purse, the way the points are calculated will also change and provide closer points battles and make it crucial for a driver to run consistently. The new points format will award 10 points to the winner of the race and will award one point less through the remainder of the top ten. Drivers finishing 11th - last will be scored with one point. This is the same format that is being utilized in the Solid Rock Carriers Late Model Big Money Series.
"We talked with a handful of drivers and even other promoters from around the racing industry and decided to go with the points format that would make the drivers race hard, make the championship battle exciting, and make it easy for the fans to follow along with who is going to win how many points at the end of the night," said competition director, Ben Kilcrease, talking about the new format. "We had a great response to the new format versus the old and really any other one that we talked about. At the end of the day, this format will encourage harder racing, consistency, and will be much easier for our fans to track their favorite driver throughout the race."
We're excited to get the season kicked off on April 2nd with the Solid Rock Carriers JumpStart 125 for the Late Mode Big Money Series plus Mini Stock, U-CAR, Street Stock, Bomber, Legends, Champ Kart, and Jr Mini Cup.
