Forecasters are predicting a 100% chance of rain Saturday, April 8th prompting concert officials to move this weekend’s Classic Rock Concert at Bobby Watson’s Carteret County Speedway featuring historic East Carolina bands, Nantucket and Sidewinder along with Built for Comfort and 8-Track, to a later date(to be announced soon).
Those familiar with East Carolina music understand the appearance by Nantucket and Sidewinder will be historic and hundreds of tickets have been pre-sold as a testament to these great bands. Those tickets will be good for the make-up date!
Nantucket formed in Jacksonville in 1969, signed with EPIC Records and produced 9 albums and 6 singles including “Heartbreaker”. The band opened for the likes of STYX, Journey, KISS, and more. Sidewinder came out of Wilmington in the 80s and became a national brand thanks to the TV show Star Search, a cross between American Idol and The Voice! Sidewinder advanced to the Semi-Finals of Star Search before losing to Sawyer Brown.
With Built for Comfort and 8-Track also on stage, this will be a rock concert for the ages for East Carolina Classic Rock fans and officials felt given the forecast, moving this momentous concert to a later date was the best option.
