October is a 'Spooktacular' Month at CCS

October at Carteret County Speedway will provide a bag of goodies to please the sweet tooth of any and all race fans. Three nights of racing, October 8th, 22nd and the 29th!

October 8 features Championship night for the Grand National Super Series with racing star Jeremy Mayfield in the house! “ I can’t wait to get to race Saturday at Carteret,” said Mayfield. “It’s an awesome track and I just want to win and let the fans know I’ll be there to sign autographs as well”.

Mayfield feels he can still get it done and in fact as a racer driver he said “ I’ve learned so much over the years I feel like a better person and just as good a driver as I’ve ever been.”

Mayfield is currently tenth in the overall GNSS point standings mostly because he has only competed in selected events. As for this Saturday at Carteret County Speedway Mayfield says, “I’ll be racing hard, I have nothing to lose”.

It’s also Chargers Championship Night with a first ever “Triple Feature” format. That means triple points and that might well provide some spooky moments for current points leader Michael O’Brien.

Saturday’s race also begins a month-long effort at Bobby Watson’s Carteret County Speedway to aid those affected by Hurricane Ian. Carteret County Speedway will conduct an Ian Relief Drive at each of the three races in October. Raffel tickets will be sold based on a 50-50 format. Fifty percent on each race night to help Ian recovery with the other 50% going to the ticket winner.

October 22nd is Halloween Bash night featuring The Southern Ground Pounders, Championship Night for weekly series and the Enduro Bash for Cash!

The Enduro Purse will be a frightening, not to mention record, $3,000 plus! For that kind of cash you can expect some Tricks on the Track this Halloween.

In the stands, fans will get the “BOO Experience” thanks to a $500 Halloween costume contest plus WRNS Radio 95.1 will launch its annual Guitar Pool for their invite-only special country music concert in Goldsboro.

If that doesn’t light your pumpkin, there will also be a Trunk or Treat during the traditional driver meet and greet before racing.

October 29th the Halloween theme continues with Halloween costumes for kids and adults encouraged, more Trunk and Treating is planned and the Bowman Gray Modifieds, Sportsman, Street Stocks, and Stadium Stocks will compete in what we are calling the Madhouse at the Beach! Madhouse because Bowman Gray racing can turn on a dime into a demolition derby because of a simple fender bump.

A little trick on the track can quickly become a treat for fans in the stands. Celebrate this Halloween season at Bobby Watson’s Carteret County Speedway. Three special weekends of racing featuring racing stars, record purses and plenty of treats.

As always general admission tickets are $15 with kids 10 and under admitted free. A reminder, if you saved your armband from September 24th it is good for half price admission October 8th.
