After a weekend full of rain and a great job by the track crew to prepare the track for racing,
the Memorial Day Classic went off as scheduled at Bobby Watson’s Carteret County Speedway.
A great crowd was in attendance and ready for racing but was also entertained by an awesome Memorial Day tribute before the race.
The Green flag fell on the first of two Late Model races and in his first race of the season at
Carteret Speedway, Boo Boo Dalton took the win over Holden Haddock and Kenneth Mercer
finished third.
The Street Stocks ran a 25-lap race and Tyler Smith took the win over Curtis Lanier who was
making his Street Stock debut and John Sharp.
As has been the theme for the season in the Junior Mini Cups, Michael Bivens took the win over Landon Strickland and Phipps Strickland rounded out the podium.
It is always a lot of fun when the Southern Ground Pounders come to the speedway and Kevin Floars took the win in his beautiful Bobby Allison themed race car. Dennis Werner was second and Allen Rowe was third.
The Bandoleros were up next and a first-time winner, Landon Burbage, took the checkered flag as his proud papa, Thomas Burbage, looked on. Landon Strickland was the runner up.

The Legends ran 25 laps and Charlie Beals took the checkered flag over Scotty Benford, who celebrated his 18 birthday over the weekend, after Benford started on the pole and swapped the lead briefly at the start of the race. Ferrari George got his first ever top three finish.
The second Late Model race was marred by a first lap crash involving Matthew Gurganus and Holden Haddock. Thankfully both were okay, but their cars were not. Dylan Newsome took the win over Boo Boo Dalton and Kenneth Mercer with another solid third place run.

The Bombers rounded out the night and provided an exciting race as they always do. It was Sam Pacitti that crossed the finish line first but after an infraction in post-race tech, Bob Snow was handed his first victory! Andrew Jackson had his worst run of the year finishing second and Haley Brown scored another podium finishing third.
The next race will be Saturday, June 3rd when it will be Teachers and School Administration Appreciation Night. Racing will include the Carolina Pro Late Models and the Modifieds. The green flag will wave at 6 pm.
