Bobby Watson's Carteret County Speedway will host a NASCAR Hall of Famer this Labor Day weekend as Bobby Labonte brings his Superstar Racing Experience and Smart Modified Series to town.
Labonte, winner of 21 NASCAR Cup series races and a 2020 inductee into the NASCAR Hall of Fame will race in his famous red and yellow Cookout modified Saturday as part of a Saturday-Sunday weekend racing extravaganza at Carteret County Speedway.
The 58 year old legend now spends most of his days watching NASCAR and other races as a fan and as an analyst for FOX Sports but he hasn’t totally retired. Labonte still loves getting behind the wheel and Saturday night he and about twenty other SMART Modified drivers will tackle the Carteret circuit for 99 exciting laps.
Cartaret County Speedway is just one of several stops this year for the Corpus Christi native. Labonte has also raced at Martinsville, Charlotte, Darlington and Bristol, so what a thrill to have him right here Saturday night in Carteret County.
Bobby and his older brother Terry are just one of two sets of brothers to have won the NASCAR Cup Championship, the others being Kyle and Kurt Busch.
Labonte will be part of Saturday's meet and greet where the fans have the chance to walk onto the track and visit with drivers as they stand by their cars, another Carteret County Speedway special treat!
Saturday's big racing card also includes the Bombers, Legends Twins and UCARs. If Saturday isn’t enough racing for you Carteret Speedway will do it all again Sunday featuring the Late Model going 80 laps with a pair of 40 lap Main Events!
Sunday’s race card begins with the All Veteran Group Parachute Team dropping into the speedway at 6pm and the racing will be accompanied by a concert at the Moonshiners featuring the Dirty Blonde Band.
From a NASCAR Legend to paratroopers to concerts, Bobby Watson’s Carteret County Speedway is the place to celebrate this Labor Day weekend Saturday and Sunday.
By the way, Friday is practice for the Smart Modified Drivers starting at 1pm and admission is free! Gates open at 11am.
The entertainment begins at 6pm each night followed by racing at seven. Take advantage of a special two night General Admission ticket for $30 and as always kids ten and under are admitted free!
