Kids Night Was 'Flipping' Awesome; Williams Grabs First Charger Victory This Season

It was Kid’s Night at Bobby Watson’s Carteret County Speedway, but no matter your age we are all kids at a racetrack.

After a great BMX stunt show featuring former Olympic coaches and XGame performers we showed some love to 10 year old Harry, who was named our grand marshall and who is battling leukemia. Harry had a VIP tour of the venue and enjoyed some really exciting activities.

The Mini Stocks were first on the track and Robert Strmiska lead all 20 laps, finishing second

was Neil Mason and Steve Sullivan was third.

The Junior Mini Cups ran 15 laps and Colby Gurganus led them all to take his 4 th win of the

season and pad his points lead. Finishing second was Anthony VanTresca, finishing third was Alexis Steffan.

Next up was the UCARS and the race was won by Steve Sullivan over Dustin Jolly, Corey Guy and James Cahoon.

The Legends put on their usual fantastic show for 25 laps and Brenton Irving edged Scotty

Benford and finishing third was Brenton’s dad Shane Irving.

The Chargers provided one of the night’s best races with a first-time winner as Gator Williams won over Michael Waters and Michael O'Brien.

The Mini Stock’s Second Feature and again Robert Strmiska edged out Neil Mason and SteveSullivan again. Strmiska led all 40 laps of both races.

Next up it was time for the Enduro Race. Where to start? Richard Ellis won the race after a

wild last-lap crash involving Curtis Lanier whose car flipped several times, but fortunately,

everyone was okay. Second was Curtis Lanier followed by Tyler Borden.

The next event will be on Saturday, September 3rd and Sunday, September 4th. Labor Day

weekend brings a doubleheader at Bobby Watson’s Speedway. Saturday night will be the

Carteret Clash, featuring the Smart Modified Tour and NASCAR champion Bobby Labonte and twin Legends features. On Sunday, the Solid Rock Carriers Big Money Late Model Series will battle it out in twin features. The All American Veteran Parachute Team will fly in during the pre-race festivities and get the night started.
