Connor Hall Wins Big At Memorial Day Classic

It was a beautiful day for honoring heroes and great racing at Bobby Watson’s Carteret County Speedway on Memorial Day Sunday. Fans were treated to a great pre-race show honoring our great country and those who have served to keep us free.

First up was the UCAR division. Steve Sullivan was able to hold off a ferocious challenge from Andrew Jackson for the win. Justin Jolly came home third.

Next up, the Junior Mini Cups hit the track and provided some of the best racing of the afternoon as Alexis Steffan nipped Michael Bivens at the line to take the win. Two-time winner Colby Gurganus rounded out the top 3.

The Bombers ran a 20-lap feature and it looked to be Joey Vereen’s race to win, but with only 2 laps remaining, problems struck Vereen and Cornell Williams took the win over Brian Gooden and a very happy 3rd place finisher Bubba Parker.

The Legends were next, and Charlie Beals led all 25 laps. The best battle was for 2nd as Brenton Irving was able to beat out Chase Singletary.

The Southern Ground Pounders lived up to their name and Dwight Sauls took the win over Mack Tatum and Shawn Otay.

Then it was time for the Solid Rock Carriers Big Money Late Model Series, 100 lap race. Conner Hall was the winner over Daniel Vuncannon and a hard-charging Tyler Matthews took 3rd.

The next race will be Saturday, June 11th, and don’t forget the Wade Hayes concert on Saturday, June 18th. For more information, go to www.carteretcountyspeedway.com or the Carteret County Speedway Facebook page.
