CCS Announces Huge $10,000 to win Late Model “JumpStart 125” for Season Opener
SWANSBORO, NC - The last race at Carteret County Speedway was a $10,000 to win, $1,000 to start Late Model mega show. If you enjoyed that, then you’ll love what’s in store for the Season Opener on April 2nd: A $10,000 to win, $1,000 to start, 125 lap Late Model mega show.
“We want to start our season off with a bang and end it on a high note.” said track owner Bob Lowery. “The addition of this race to our schedule will do just that. We’re not just a track on the coast, we are America’s Nicest Short Track,
and my crew and I are going to put our fine facility on the map and circle it in red.”
Known as the “JumpStart 125” the race will feature virtually the same format as December’s race of champions. Teams will be allotted one new set of race tires. Late Model teams will have a practice day on Friday, April 1st with qualifying on Saturday afternoon, April 2nd.
The show will be limited to 20 entries to begin. This number could rise depending on the tire situation but there is no guarantee. Once 20 entries are received, then any afterward will be placed on a reserve list and will be called if tires allow. However, only 20 cars will start the main event so if more entries are allowed then a last chance race will need to take place.
125 laps will be the distance with a break at or near halfway to make adjustments to the cars. No tire changes will be allowed unless the tire is completely flat. Competitors will start and finish on the same four tires, adding tire conservation to the list of challenges they’ll face.
This race, initially scheduled for twin features, will kick off the 2022 Big Money Series at Carteret County Speedway for the Late Models. The Big Money Series will now pay over $100,000 over the course of the season with the addition to this race with the champion receiving $10,000 at the end of the 7 event championship.
While details are being ironed out over the next week, registration will open tomorrow [insert date]. Drivers who register early will receive a discount on their registration fee and will secure a spot in the starting lineup that will fill extremely quick.
